‘Off Road’ but understand the effect of carbon footprints and care about the environment.
Why? Because caring about the environment means not needing to use 8 cylinder engines! Less weight also means less petrol consumption and better fuel economy and therefore good news for the environment again and ‘less money’ spent on fuel and of course, importantly, ‘less money spent’ on the purchase of an 8 cylinder engine
Only a 4 cylinder turbo or 6 cylinder engine will be needed to tow these

Construction of a ‘Free Spirit Off Roader’.
At Free Spirit we have now designed and constructed a complete ‘aluminium chassis’ with guaranteed durable and proven independent suspension. We believe this is essential for Off Road Caravans. Furthermore we also construct the wall and roof frames and even the internal cabinetry out of fully welded RHS aluminium.
Why? Because the framework will be light and durable - will not rot in humid atmosphere and are therefore built to last and last and last.
The use of aluminium in the build of the chassis through to the frame and cabinetry is a unique step forward in off road caravan design and construction.
Our unique aluminium chassis sets the base for the ‘Lightness in the Whole unit.’

…….. Light and Strong off Road Caravan’.
Other manufacturers may choose to use glued and stapled timber for wall and cabinet frames, which will lead to rotting timber and rusted staples. These types of wall frames are not designed for the harsh conditions of travelling in the outback or anywhere off a tarmac road Off Road caravans need to be built with complete strength and durability from chassis to frame work to external wall and cladding.
Some manufacturers are using fibre-glass sheeting rather than actual wall frames, while this method may have a slight weight advantage their wall frames are not durable and are much harder to customise, unlike a ‘Free Spirit Off Roader’ whose framework is strong and durable, neither of these timber or fibre glass caravans would survive an accident very well, not to mention a ‘roll-over!’
At Free Spirit Off Road Caravans, we build durable and well constructed units, these units can tackle the outback and bush tracks you may wish to use they are strong and durable and in the case of an accident, easily repaired or modified. Peace of mind in a Free Spirit Off Road Caravan.
Electrical
Free Spirit Off Road Caravans contain a tested and proven self sufficient 12v electrical system. Supplying the sealed maintenance free batteries are 2 130w Kyocera solar panels. For ‘Peace of Mind’ at Free Spirit Off Road Caravans we also include a high out-put battery charger. Our lighting consists of quality and extremely efficient fluorescent and L.E.D’s.
We use a 12v compressor fridge as this has been proven to be the most efficient in use of energy as opposed to a 3 way fridge that many other caravans are using.
Plumbing
Top quality water pumps feed the Thedford cassette flushing toilet and the automatic gas hot water system. Free Spirit Off Road Caravans are fitted with high quality water storage tanks. This is a standard in all our caravans.The plumbing system is designed with out back and off road travel in mind, therefore tanks are armoured for protection. (On the factory tour you will see a demonstration of our superior water tanks and air conditioners.
Interior & Layouts
At Free Spirit Off Road Caravans we line the inside
of our showers with an extremely lightweight fiberglass
coating, to eliminate any chances of leaks developing.
The chassis, frame and interior cabinetry frames are constructed using aluminum to maintain the durability and lightness,this is our trade mark, however, the interior of the caravan will still maintain the skilled craftsman’s touch! All the fascias of the units are put together by an experienced and ‘Qualified Cabinet Fitter and his team’, who create a truly unique kitchen, lounge and bedroom area.
The professional Interior Designer then creates the choices of ‘design & colour’ to be chosen to dress and colour these area, or a combination of your own, if desired!

Economics (& common sense) – Freedom and Independence in an Off Roader
At Free Spirit have constructed not only a lighter unit for economy and ease of towing, with only the need for a 4 cylinder turbo or 6 cylinder engine, (16’ models) but also an extremely trustworthy ‘Off Roader’, giving ‘durability and longevity’ needed in an Off Road Caravan.
Engineered and designed with water tight doors and hatches allowing a water fording depth of around 1.2m, which out in the bush and the Aussie outback this is extremely vital.
A caravan that allows complete, ‘self–sufficiency and independence’ for it’s owner as well as being light enough to allow the tow vehicle to be sustainable and economic in fuel consumption. For instance, in the ‘lighter towing weight’, not only does the ‘lightness in weight’ of the caravan consume ‘less fuel’ than other heavier models would cause a 4 x 4 to use, but at Free Spirit Off Road Caravans you have the option of incorporating the same tyres onto the caravan as are used on the tow vehicle. Common sense! Thus in case of emergencies, there is not just one spare tyre but ‘four spare tyres!’ Essential in the outback! Thus… Giving you ‘peace of mind’ out in the bush!
Free Spirit Off Road Cara vans – Our standard product is a Premier Product – Australian Made
We have gone to great lengths to source out the premier product in a range of products. For example we put as standard’ in our caravans ‘Australian premier spring mattresses’, (we have made sure that these mattresses’ are manufactured in Brisbane) rather than using ordinary foam, as other caravan manufacturers may choose to do - supreme comfort.
Our kitchen cabinets are built by Australian craftsmen. Our door components to the shower and bathroom and toilet area are made by a local Australian company
The LED lights we use on our vans, we have made sure, are not imported from China but are manufactured and put together in Australia.)

We will still give our customers the opportunity to up-grade further any part of our standard inclusions where possible. i.e. There is choice of different kitchen tops and cupboard and fascias, if required as also a deluxe model of spring mattress available on request, as are different types of textured material for the interior furnishings and/or leather recliners. Comfort is our ‘top priority.’
